Saturday's events were capped by a fireworks program like none ever seen on the Mall. Traditionally, fireworks on the National Mall are ignited from the Washington Monument grounds. But before the Monument display, the Smithsonian's 150th Birthday Fireworks began at the famous Castle Building, and were ignited not only from the Haupt Garden behind the Castle...but also from atop the building itself!
