America's Smithsonian, a traveling exhibition, featuring more than 300 treasures from the Smithsonian collections, began arriving in Los Angeles January 27, in preparation for its opening which took place February 9..

Developed to celebrate the Smithsonian's 150th anniversary, it is the largest traveling exhibit ever produced.

From Los Angeles it will travel across the United States during 1996-1997. The exhibition features artifacts that are testaments to more than 300 years of America's cultural, social, scientific and artistic heritage.
