SR-71 Deploys Red Drag Chute


One of a series of photographs from "another perspective"


After landing at Dulles International Airport for delivery to the the National Air and Space Museum, an SR-71 "Blackbird" spy plane deploys its bright red drag chute to slow it down on the runway.

From the end of the runway, a spectacular and unusual photograph taken with a 1200mm lens just after the aircraft touched down. The two red objects on the runway are pieces of the chute's covering which were flung aside when the chute was released.
