An American Journey on the National Mall January 18-19, 1997. Events which were designed to showcase a broad range of free activities in seven heated pavilions, as well as many of the Smithsonian museums. Included were music, speakers, food, interactive technology and other special events.
Focusing on President Clinton's and Vice President Gore's "commitment to children and their future," the weekend on the Mall was billed as "taking a musical and oratorical journey highlighting heritage and exploring the challenges of the 21st century".
